Supported Decisionmaking for Volunteer Supporters

Topics:

In this session, we define supported decisionmaking and highlight its key concepts and principles. Additionally, we outline the responsibilities of the supporter to support decisionmaking and discuss a scenario that provides an example of how one may support the individual to make their own decisions under an SDM framework.

Per updates in Senate Bill 27, as of January 1, 2026, bipolar I disorder with psychotic features, except psychosis related to intoxication, is an eligible diagnosis. This training has been updated to reflect this update. For more information, see the Senate Bill 27 brief.
