Petition Form Updates
The Judicial Council of California (JC) has revised the CARE-100 petition form and issued a new CARE-102 form specifically for use by Licensed Behavioral Health Professionals (which could include county BH). The forms are to be used starting July 1, 2025. The forms can be accessed on JC’s website here.
Training and technical assistance materials have been updated to reflect these new forms. Consider reviewing the updated resources below.

- New! Completing a CARE ACT Petition: A Tutorial for Key Steps and Tips explains the CARE Act petition’s purpose, key information, and court process.
- Updated! A series of audience-specific trainings provides an overview of the CARE process, including eligibility, petitioning, and the range of CARE services. They include specific considerations for each audience, behavioral health and social service providers, public guardians/conservators, first responders, and justice system partners.
- Updated! The Considerations for Petitioning details the who, what, and where of filing petitions, including current considerations and strategies with regard to the petition process in CARE.
