CARE petitions may be filed in the counties of Glenn, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne beginning Monday, October 2, 2023, and in the county of Los Angeles beginning Friday, December 1, 2023. Petitions must be filed in the county in which the respondent resides, is found, or is facing criminal or civil proceedings. Petitions may not be filed in any of the remaining 50 counties until their implementation date of December 1, 2024.
