In this training, we discuss the relationship between the volunteer supporter and the client/respondent. Additionally, we review the importance of a volunteer supporter to fully support a client/respondent’s self-determination. Scenarios are used to illustrate how different relationships may pose potential challenges to the supported decisionmaking process.
