Referrals to CARE

Topics:

The training overviews the referral process for statutory CARE referrals from Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) designated facilities and court referrals, as well as referrals from community partners and family members.

The live open-forum recording includes a panel discussion on current CARE referral processes and successful strategies that can be replicated by county behavioral health (BH) agencies.

Per updates in Senate Bill 27, as of January 1, 2026, bipolar I disorder with psychotic features, except psychosis related to intoxication, is an eligible diagnosis. This training has been updated to reflect this update. For more information, see the Senate Bill 27 brief.
